Canada is supporting the Association for New Canadians to help newcomers better integrate into the community by improving employment services.

July 6, 2019—Vernon, BC— Vernon is one of 11 rural and northern communities selected as part of the new Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot to invite newcomers to make this B.C. community their forever home.

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Jean Asselborn, Luxembourg’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, today signed a new bilateral Youth Mobility Arrangement between Canada and Luxembourg.

July 3, 2019 – Dieppe, N.B. – Canada is supporting 7 organizations across the country to provide official language training services for French-speaking newcomers choosing to settle in a Francophone minority community.

In November 2018, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) launched an expression of interest process to solicit proposals from organizations able to deliver French and English language training to newcomers who declare French as their language of preference and want to make a Francophone minority community their new home.

June 27, 2019 – Ottawa, ON – The Government of Canada is providing $10.1 million to help the City of Ottawa cover the costs incurred for temporary housing related to the influx of asylum claimants. This funding is in addition to the $7 million provided to the City of Ottawa in April 2019.

Each year, citizenship ceremonies take place across the country on Canada Day to welcome our newest Canadians. This year, 42 citizenship ceremonies will be held across Canada on July 1.

June 26, 2019—Saint John, NB—Canada is providing funding for the YMCA of Greater Saint John to help newcomers better integrate into the community by improving the accessibility and quality of settlement services.
